Painter

My paintings are a response to the impact of climate change in Greenland. The glaciers are melting and this is exposing landscapes that have not been seen for 40,000 years. I wanted to reference the actions taking place today to fight climate change. I inscribed 'Just Stop Oil' repeatedly onto the gessoed substrate and collaged old paper oil bills to create the initial layers. Next I painted the landscape of Greenland that is being exposed due to the increased rate of glacial melt.  I hope this artwork juxtaposes the lack of action in the past with the direct action of today.
